Frequently Asked Questions
Should I rent a closed-hole or open-hole flute?
Beginners should start with a closed-hole (plateau) flute—it's easier to cover the keys and produce a clear tone. Open-hole flutes are for intermediate players who need the additional technique and tone benefits.
Will you match a lower price I found elsewhere?
Yes! We price match any comparable flute rental. If you find a better price, just let us know and we'll match it—guaranteed.
Is this flute currently available?
Most instruments are rented out right now. Reserve one, or join the waitlist and we text you the day one comes back — your place is held in order. Contact us for your preferred flute type (closed-hole or open-hole). We'll respond within 24 hours!
Can I rent a flute for just a few days?
Yes. The flute rents by the day, the week or the month, booked and paid for online. One day is $12 all in — $2 for the day plus the one-time $10 short-term rental fee — and a week is $17. You choose a pickup or delivery time as part of checkout.
What is the short-term rental fee?
A one-time $10 on a rental booked by the day, $5 by the week, and nothing at all on a month. It is charged ONCE per rental, not per day — it covers getting the instrument checked, cleaned and handed over, and it is what keeps the daily rate down to $2. It appears as its own line on the summary before you pay.
How do I collect the flute?
A person hands it to you. Pickup from our East Village location is free, at a time you choose at checkout, or we deliver for $25 in a two-hour window you pick. There is no locker and nothing to collect unattended. Delivery starts the day after you book, so a rental beginning today has to be a pickup.
Can I extend a short-term rental?
Yes — message us before it is due back. We re-price the whole rental at its new length and charge only the difference, so you never pay the short-term rental fee twice, and if the longer length crosses into a cheaper tier you get the cheaper tier.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit. You pay for the rental itself, plus delivery if you choose it, and nothing else up front. You are responsible for the instrument while it is with you, which is what the rental agreement covers.
