Kalman Music Lessons rents instruments for beginners, students, and musicians in NYC. Before browsing models, write down what the instrument is for: a first course of lessons, a school-band assignment, a rehearsal, or a short visit. That answer helps determine the instrument, equipment, and rental term.
If you already have a teacher, ask for the instrument requirements before booking. For a child, include size and carrying considerations. If you have not chosen an instrument yet, an availability enquiry can start with what you want to play and what you are unsure about.
Find the instrument in the actual collection
Our rental collection includes keyboards, guitars, electric bass, saxophones, flutes, clarinets, and trumpets. Read the individual instrument page rather than assuming all models have the same equipment or rental options.
A keyboard rental is an electronic instrument, not an acoustic upright or grand piano. Online saxophone booking is for alto; tenor and soprano are arranged directly. Acoustic, classical, and electric guitars have different options. If a feature matters to your lessons, confirm it before choosing dates.
Choose dates and compare the complete price
Alto saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet, and guitar have online day, week, and month bookings. Day and week rentals add a one-time short-term fee. Monthly keyboards, bass, tenor, and soprano rentals are arranged with the team and have a one-month minimum.
Look at the total for the period you need, including delivery if selected. Renting lowers the initial purchase commitment, but it does not mean renting will always cost less over a long period. Set a point to revisit the rent-versus-buy decision once you have some experience with the instrument.
Make a first-session equipment list
Compare the instrument page’s included items with your teacher’s requirements. Check power supplies and supporting equipment for keyboards, amplification needs for electric instruments, and mouthpiece or consumable requirements for winds. Keep questions specific: “Does this model have the pedal connection my teacher requested?” is easier to resolve than “Does it include everything?”
At pickup, check the instrument, case, and accessories against the arrangement. Ask how to pack it away safely and who to contact if something needs attention. Normal wear and tear is covered under the rental arrangement; report a problem rather than attempting a repair yourself.
Plan both the outward trip and the return
Free pickup is available at our East Village location by arrangement. Rental delivery is $25 anywhere in the five boroughs; online delivery windows start the next day. Same-day pickup depends on an available time and instrument. The pickup and delivery guide explains the arrangements.
Keep the case and accessories together while you use the rental. Contact us before the return date if you need more time. For your first enquiry, your name, phone number, and chosen instrument are enough; dates, neighborhood, and questions can be added when you have them.
