Common questions

Saxophone questions, answered.

Which sax should I start with?

Alto sax is the most common starter — smaller, lighter, easier on breath. Tenor is great too, especially for adult students interested in jazz.

Do I need my own saxophone?

Yes — consistent practice requires your own horn. We recommend rentals through trusted dealers for beginners, and can help with purchase selection.

Is sax hard to learn?

Making a sound is easy on day one. Building a great tone and fluent technique is a lifetime pursuit — but rewarding from the very first lesson.

What age can kids start?

Typically age 10+, once permanent teeth are in and lung capacity is sufficient. Younger students often start on clarinet or recorder.

Are online sax lessons effective?

Yes — we use high-quality audio setups so tone nuance comes through, and shared-screen for charts & transcriptions.

Do you teach jazz specifically?

Absolutely. Many of our sax teachers are active jazz performers, and we have dedicated jazz improvisation curricula.
