Kalman Music Lessons is a New York City music school whose teachers come to your home in Manhattan, most of Brooklyn, or Astoria, Long Island City and Ridgewood in Queens. We teach piano, guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, violin, cello, ukulele, voice and music theory to children and adults, including complete beginners. Lessons happen at your home, at one of our NYC studios, or online. Your first lesson is $15 in our studio or $50 at your home. After that, studio lessons start at $50 and at-home lessons at $60 per 30-minute lesson, both on a 10-lesson package. Call or text (917) 525-3374.

About our trumpet lessons
Our trumpet lessons welcome players at every stage, from beginners picking up the horn for the first time to advancing musicians preparing for auditions and ensemble work. Instruction is tailored to each student, whether the goal is a warm, singing tone, faster fingers, or the stamina to get through a demanding chart. Lessons move at a pace that keeps students challenged without ever feeling overwhelmed.
Instruction emphasizes the fundamentals that make everything else possible: breath support, a reliable embouchure, clean articulation, and thoughtful phrasing. Students learn to produce a clear, centered tone and to play rhythms accurately, while also shaping lines with real musical expression. Technical exercises are paired with actual repertoire so that skills take root in music the student wants to play.
Practice and performance go hand in hand. Students work through solos, ensemble parts, and contemporary arrangements, building a feel for timing, style, and interpretation along the way. This range of material develops the versatility and confidence to hold their own in jazz combos, concert bands, orchestras, or as soloists.
Performance readiness runs through the whole approach at Kalman Music Lessons, with attention to stage presence, playing under pressure, and getting comfortable in front of a microphone. Regular chances to play for others build the adaptability and expressive freedom that recitals, concerts, and studio work demand.
