“Saxophone” is not a complete rental specification. Alto, tenor, and soprano are different instruments, and the right choice depends on the teacher, ensemble, or session. Ask for the exact type before selecting a booking, especially if somebody has assigned you a written part.
Kalman Music Lessons offers alto, tenor, and soprano rental options in NYC. Online short-term booking is for alto. Tenor and soprano rentals are monthly arrangements made directly with the team, subject to availability.
Alto: the online short-term option
If a teacher recommends alto or the session specifically calls for it, use the alto rental page to check the instrument and dates. Alto can be booked by the day, week, or month. A daily or weekly booking adds a one-time short-term fee, shown alongside the rental rate.
Alto is commonly used in beginner instruction, but the teacher’s recommendation should lead the choice. If the player is a child, ask about fit and carrying the instrument before booking. The school-band checklist can help you collect those requirements.
Tenor: make the requirement explicit
For a tenor part, use the tenor rental page and ask about monthly availability. An alto reservation does not reserve a tenor. Tell the team the date, expected length of use, and any model or mouthpiece requirement from the teacher or bandleader.
Think about the case and transport as well as the instrument. If a particular setup is essential for a performance, confirm it before committing to the session. The starting saxophone rate shown on the general collection page should not be treated as a quote for every variant.
Soprano: confirm the specific instrument you need
Use the soprano rental page for monthly enquiries. A soprano is not simply a smaller substitute for an alto. If you are choosing it for the first time, speak with your teacher about whether it suits the music and instruction you have planned.
Send any required instrument configuration and accessory details with the enquiry. Availability and the exact supplied setup should be confirmed before arranging the handover.
Check the setup before you collect it
Review the individual page’s included equipment, then confirm the mouthpiece and consumables you need. A player’s familiar mouthpiece or preferred reed may matter for a session, so raise that requirement early. Do not assume a generic rental package matches every player’s setup.
Free arranged pickup is available in the East Village. Rental delivery is $25 anywhere in the five boroughs, with available online delivery windows starting the next day. Check the pickup and return arrangements and plan a little time to try the instrument before the rehearsal.
