Who Bass Lessons Are For
Everyone assumes bass students are teenagers starting garage bands. Some are — but our students run the full range of ages and backgrounds:

- Adult beginners — it is never too late to start. Many of our bass students are adults learning their first instrument, and lessons are built around adult schedules and adult goals, whether that’s jamming with friends or finally understanding the music you’ve listened to for decades.
- Returning players — if you played years ago, a teacher will help you rebuild technique, clean up old habits, and get you playing real music again quickly.
Complete beginners are welcome. You don’t need to read music, know theory, or even own a bass to take your first lesson.
What Your Lessons Cover
Your lessons are tailored to your goals, but strong bass playing rests on a few pillars that every student develops:
- Technique — proper left- and right-hand fundamentals, fingerstyle and pick playing, clean fretting, muting, and tone control, so everything you play sounds intentional.
- Groove and timing — the bassist’s real job. You’ll work on locking in with a beat, playing with a metronome and backing tracks, and developing the steady, confident feel that makes people move.
- Reading and ear training — reading bass lines and chord charts, learning how basic theory works on the fretboard, and training your ear to pick out bass parts from recordings so you can learn songs on your own.
