Our Teachers' Review
A harness distributes the saxophone's weight across both shoulders and the upper back, dramatically reducing the neck strain that can come from a traditional neck strap. This is especially important for younger students and smaller players whose neck muscles aren't developed enough to comfortably support the instrument for extended periods.
Our teachers strongly recommend harnesses over neck straps for students under 12 or those who are small for their age. The difference in comfort is immediately noticeable — students can focus on their playing technique rather than managing an uncomfortable weight on their neck.
The small size fits most younger alto saxophone students. The adjustable straps allow the harness to grow with the student, and the secure clip attachment works with all standard saxophone hooks. Investing in a good harness early prevents the development of bad posture habits that can be difficult to correct later.
