Our Teachers' Review
Level 2A represents a significant step forward in a young pianist's development. The introduction of key signatures (C major, G major, and F major) opens up a wider world of music, and students begin playing pieces that require genuine independence between the hands.
This is often where we see students start to identify as 'piano players' rather than 'kids taking piano lessons.' The pieces have enough complexity to be genuinely satisfying, and the technical demands push students to develop real practice habits.
Our teachers pay special attention to the shift exercise sections in this book, which help students navigate the keyboard smoothly rather than looking down at their hands. This is a critical skill that makes all future learning easier.
Most students arrive at Level 2A around 12–18 months into their studies, and it typically takes another 6–9 months to complete. The pacing is well-calibrated — challenging enough to promote growth without overwhelming young learners.
