Our Teachers' Review
Piano Adventures Level 1 is where piano study starts to feel like real music-making. After the foundational work of the Primer, students are ready to expand their range on the keyboard, explore new time signatures, and begin playing with greater expression.
The book introduces intervals (2nds through 5ths), which is a game-changer for reading fluency. Instead of identifying every note individually, students start recognizing patterns and shapes on the staff. This shift dramatically speeds up their ability to learn new pieces.
Our teachers love the repertoire at this level — the pieces are genuinely musical, with interesting dynamics, articulation marks, and phrasing that give students something to interpret rather than just execute. Parents often notice a big jump in how 'real' their child's playing sounds once they're working through Level 1.
We typically recommend pairing this with the Level 1 Theory Book to reinforce concepts, and the Performance Book for extra repertoire. Most students spend 6–12 months at Level 1 depending on age and practice habits.
