Our Teachers' Review
Book 2 is where many of our adult students experience a breakthrough. The foundational work from Book 1 starts paying real dividends, and pieces become noticeably more musical and satisfying. Students often describe this as the point where they stop feeling like a 'beginner' and start feeling like a 'piano player.'
The book expands into new key signatures, introduces more complex rhythmic patterns, and features longer pieces that require musical planning and interpretation. The theory sections deepen understanding of chord progressions and harmonic movement, which many adults find intellectually fascinating.
Our teachers particularly value how Book 2 handles the transition to intermediate playing. Rather than a sudden jump in difficulty, the progression is smooth and well-scaffolded. Students build confidence gradually while being challenged enough to maintain engagement.
Most adult students spend 6–12 months on Book 2, depending on practice consistency and lesson frequency. After completing it, students are ready for direct repertoire study — classical collections, jazz standards, pop arrangements, or whatever genre excites them most.
