Our Teachers' Review
The Accelerated Piano Adventures series exists because teenagers don't learn the same way young children do. They can process more information, handle faster progression, and — critically — they need music that feels age-appropriate. Book 1 compresses the Primer and Level 1 into a single volume without sacrificing any essential concepts.
Our teachers reach for this book every time a 12–18-year-old walks in for their first piano lesson. The pieces are arranged and composed to appeal to an older sensibility, avoiding the childish characters and simple melodies that work well for 6-year-olds but would alienate a teenager.
The pacing is ideal — concepts move quickly enough to maintain engagement, but the book still provides enough practice material to solidify each skill before moving on. Most teens complete Book 1 in 4–6 months, which gives them a satisfying sense of progress.
After Book 1, students move to Accelerated Book 2, then transition into the standard Piano Adventures series at Level 3A. This path gets teens to intermediate-level playing in roughly 12–18 months.
