Kids Ages 5–12
For our youngest pianists, we rely on the Piano Adventures series by Faber & Faber. It's colorful, engaging, and builds a rock-solid foundation in reading, technique, and musicality. We start most kids here and move through the levels at their own pace.
Piano Adventures Primer Level – Lesson Book
$8–$10This is where most of our young beginners start. The Primer level introduces note reading, rhythm, and basic hand position through fun, memorable pieces. Kids love the characters and illustrations, and it gives teachers a clear structure for the first months of study.
Piano Adventures Level 1 – Lesson Book
$8–$10Once students finish the Primer, Level 1 expands their range on the keyboard and introduces more expressive playing. It's the natural next step and keeps kids motivated with pieces that actually sound like real music.
Piano Adventures Level 2A – Lesson Book
$8–$10Level 2A deepens note reading across both clefs and introduces new key signatures. Students start developing more independence between hands here, which is a big milestone for young players.
Piano Adventures Level 2B – Lesson Book
$8–$10Building on 2A, this book introduces more complex rhythms and phrasing. By this point, students are playing pieces they're genuinely proud of, and the technical demands prepare them well for intermediate study.
Piano Adventures Level 3A – Lesson Book
$8–$10Level 3A marks the transition into early intermediate territory. Students tackle more sophisticated pieces with dynamics, pedaling, and musical interpretation becoming central to each lesson.
Piano Adventures Level 3B – Lesson Book
$8–$10The companion to 3A, this book rounds out the intermediate foundation. Students who complete 3B are well-prepared for more advanced repertoire and often begin exploring classical and contemporary pieces independently.
Piano Adventures Level 4 – Lesson Book
$8–$12Level 4 is where students start playing real concert-level pieces. The technical and musical demands increase significantly, and students begin developing their own artistic voice at the keyboard.
Piano Adventures Level 5 – Lesson Book
$8–$12The capstone of the Piano Adventures series. Students who reach Level 5 are solid intermediate pianists with strong reading skills and musical awareness. From here, they're ready for classical repertoire collections and more advanced study.
Kids Ages 12–18
Older beginners and teens move faster through the basics, so we use the Accelerated Piano Adventures series to get them playing satisfying music quickly. After the accelerated books, they transition into the standard levels for a thorough intermediate foundation.
Accelerated Piano Adventures Book 1 – Lesson Book
$8–$10Designed for older beginners who can handle a faster pace. This covers Primer and Level 1 material in one book, using age-appropriate pieces that keep teens engaged without feeling childish.
Accelerated Piano Adventures Book 2 – Lesson Book
$8–$10Continues the accelerated path, covering Level 2 material with more sophisticated music. By the end of this book, teens are reading confidently in both clefs and playing pieces with real musical depth.
Piano Adventures Level 3A – Lesson Book
$8–$10After the accelerated books, teens transition into the standard Level 3A. The intermediate material here challenges them with pedaling, dynamics, and more complex hand independence.
Piano Adventures Level 3B – Lesson Book
$8–$10Completing the intermediate foundation. Teens who finish 3B have the skills to tackle popular songs, classical pieces, and even start composing their own music.
Piano Adventures Level 4 – Lesson Book
$8–$12Advanced intermediate material that prepares teens for recitals, auditions, and independent study. The pieces here are genuinely impressive and build real performance confidence.
Piano Adventures Level 5 – Lesson Book
$8–$12The final level of the series. Teens completing Level 5 are ready for serious classical and contemporary repertoire, college auditions, or simply playing for their own enjoyment at a high level.
